Hi there ok the problem i have is i have a Hp pavilin dv8000 and it has windows vista ultimate installed it was designed for windows xp and i would like to put it on but when i try and install it i get to the blue screen that says but when i press enter to install it says it cant find the Harddrive or that it is not installed ????? and it is cause i just put vista back on after formating can some one please help ??? what can i do is it the format of the hdd or somethin ???? thanks for any help or info cheers
when i braught it it had vista installed the laptop is vista capable but i dont like it at all. yes i do have a xp instalation disk but it says there is no harddrive to install on i reformated and tryed with a fresh drive but still no go ???? dambit
Did you check HP website and make sure your laptop has all the drivers for XP before trying to reformat? It doesnt see the HDD because it doesnt have a driver to. I've read that many laptops dont have legacy support for XP because Microsoft was trying to get their vendors to push Vista, many people have the same problem with install I found this http://techrena.blogspot.com/2008/10/how-to-install-your-own-wndows-xp-in-hp.html Lemme know how it works. If this doesnt, there are methods to slipstream a driver into your install disc so it sees it automatically.
Hi there thanks for the link it worked but the drivers i got dident ?? i had to put vista back on again so i could connect to the net the only one that wourked was the wlan assisant dambit any chance you could help me find the right ones i just need the ethernet or wireless drivers i think damb i was so close thanks tho

I'm sure the drivers are mostly the same but check it out. Did you have it installed but it wouldnt do anything? or how far past your original problem did you get? Check this page too http://www.nliteos.com/guide/ You can integrate your needed drivers with your windows XP disc to make a bootable CD to get your lappy going
