convert VOB files to mpeg4 / AVI / DIVX

I've been trying to convert some Video_TS.VOB files to stream to an xbox360. It seems I need to covert them to AVI...
What is the easiest / quickest way to get that done? Which application?

AviDemux is a freebie..and a fairly good one. Having said that, there are many more proggys that'll do what you want, some are free and some not so free. For more software suggestion.. either type AVI to DVD into the search function or click on the Downloads tab at the top of the page and look for video tools etc..

EDIT: Small point. I've been using ConverXtoDVD lately, and find this to be ok also. It costs a little, but it creates menu's and has more besides. I believe the trial version is a bit of a dud however, so if you've ever heard of torrents *cough* that process may be avoided. :P

If you want to convert to dvd then ConvertxtoDVD is a great program but to convert to avi I would suggest you use Handbrake it has presets for things like Xbox 360 and psp. I use it for my psp and ipod. I don't know if the 360 will play avi's form what I have heard it needs to be mp4. Hope this helps. If I am wrong someone please tell me and I will change it. I do not own a 360 so I can't test it.

i've been using SPAM to SPAM converter for a while, this is not free, but it's really a bargin and works great. iSPAM is essential to ILettuce Tv, iCucumber and iTurnip, right? i'm just glad i had the right choice...i get paid by the SPAM company regardless
