Ok first question what games have 5.1 audio because all the new games like fallout 3 codwaw only seem to have simulated surround sound I currently useing the didtal coax out of my sound card and for movies it sounds perfect no problems at all but all the games i try to do it in i hear nothing but 2 speakers i set the stero reciver to auto detect so what ever the game or movie outputs it matchs it automaticly but all the games i try seem to have no audio settings or i have to change the settings in vista which by default seem to only reconize 2 speakers but movies work fine which is weird..
most games have advanced audio technologies to make the game sound great but multi-speaker?!? i think they're rare or none at all. having said that, games should work on all speakers (i think) even though each speaker won't be playing its own audio, it will be left speakers left channel and right speakers right channel, not sure what the centre will be. probably best of both.
