    1. So, I have flash yoututbe video files from the temp folder in Ubuntu, renamed and moved to a separate folder. They play just fine in VLC. Can I edit and work with them in Ubuntu??

    2. Can I even play them on my Windows machine not connected to the internet? I've downloaded Flash, and updated Firefox.

They came with no file extension, and do not respond to any efforts at adding one of any type. They seem to just sit there and quietly laugh at me.

Try t@bencode .. t@b media converter (google.. sorry.. mine isn't working) to convert them into a more workable format. I don't think avidemux will handle them otherwise.
I rename them .flv which makes them work :)
