ok, well no matter what i do from using a SNES emu to playing COD4 exactly every second, the comp freezes for the slightest fraction of a second without fail. and also if a listen to my computer in a quite room, at that second when it frreezes it makes a little cpu'ish noise. you know that noise you get inside your tower when you move a window around on your screen? if its normal, i cant really describe it but its a noise!!! also, if i open task manager, when the computer makes the noise theres no cpu spikes or anything but its making the noise at the exact moment that the CPU graph refreshes so yea... can ya plz help its really getting on my nerves...

    CPU Intel celeron D 2.8GHz
    ATI sapphire 3850 512MB gddr3 AGP 8x
    2GB ddr 400MHz PC 3200 RAM
500W OCZ technology (model OCZ500XS) PSU

    thanks :)

If you tried different drivers, ruled out your antispyware software causing the problem. Made sure your hard drives are set to DMA not PIO. Do scandisk (with box check to fix errors). If that hasn't fix it.

If you have an onboard soundcard, you can try installing a PCI sound card and see if that will help. I've had a problem where every 5 minutes my computer would freeze for a few seconds everytime. The only way I fixed was by installing as PCI card. I think the video card/motherboard and onboard sound where inconpatible in my case.

do you get a sound comming from your system when moving windows around on the screen? or stuff like that? its the kinda sound you might hear on some CSI tv show, on their computers when the have these programs and crap running lol, but MUCH much more quite, a systmish sound. but yea how i check PIO mode?

edit, checked, im in DMA mode, which is faster than PIO ^^

    what else could it be?
