    Hey there,
Those Xvid files are driving me crazy! I tried once again to convert a Xvid file to a VCD but it just won't work. I extracted the audio. Then I tried to open the Xvid file in TMPGEnc but a window popped up that said TMPGEnc couldn't open the file or unsupported. I changed the environmental settings but it didn't really improved the situation. Please help, I don't know what to do. Thanx

You need to download Nemo XviD Codec. This will allow tmpgenc to display the file!! Do a search for it, unfortunately i do not know the link, i do however have the file.

just install FFDShow, and after you do that you can use tmpgenc. you don't do anything with ffdshow just install it.

I've been getting the same problem, trying to open up a AVI File...

I was in the process of converting 3 Movies and they was all running well and then my Monitor Froze and I restrated it a few hours later. I go to do it over again and now it says the same message that it can not support it?

Install FFDSHOW, then go to the TMPGEnc's Option menu and select Environmental settings... From there, select the VFAPI Plugin tab.

You should see in the list of plugins a plugin called DirectShow Multimedia File Reader. It has some value next to it. If this codec is not at the top of the lisy (top-most of the list!!), click with left mouse button on this line to select it, then use right mouse button on this line and select Higher priority.

Repeat until the Directshow Multimedia File Reader is at the top of the list and has the highest priority number on the list.

Proceed with encoding, TMPGEnc should be able to open the XviD now, if you've installed FFDSHOW correctly.

Wow! I am glad I found this site! You guys have helped me out SOO MUCH! I would recommend this site to anyone that has ANY QUESTIONS on DVD Burning or related projects!

BTW, It worked, but why would it work before then stop? Then work again?

Something that you've installed has messed up the correct pick up order for the codecs or something like that. Hard to tell. But the trick I mentioned basically forces TMPGEnc to change the codec/filter lookup order to the same as your PC's Windows Media Player has -- i.e. if the original video works on WiMP, it works on TMPGEnc with those settings.
