mods, feel free to delete this thread if it's inappropriate. the CEO of UPSee/N*L Ireland was on the Radio over here this morning talking about the "dodgyboxes." he said early in the new year they're going to move up to a higher level of encryption and sendig all their customers a new card. when they switch off the existing encryption system the boxes will no longer work on their network. is this just scaremongering by them?
Probably! They also reached an agreement with a guy in Galway that was selling boxes, and have claimed that they have the names and addresses of all his customers, and will be pursuing them. They of course are offering to let you contact them (just in case you are not on their list), so they can advise you that you might be in breach of their rules.
the thing i don't get is why would they bother stopping this guy from selling the boxes if,as they say, they're not going to work anyway pretty soon? doesn't make sense to me....
Heres a link to te newstalk interview: http://60hud.com/audio/theendisnear.mp3 Its great when she goes at him for the awful customer service! How can they afford the send out new cards to customers but not invest in customer service or provide a HD service. He talks a bit about the nagra 3 upgrade. If its cracked, would its just be the cams that need upgrading or would a new box need to be bought?
lately in cork here they are replacing the boxes and using pace boxes as the decoders then but using the same card and no way past that system i have tried in vain
