Hey guys and thanks for answering my question in advance. Ok a couple of months ago i was playing my brand new modded. One day i woke up and turned it on to play some games and it decided to go to the xbox logo screen and then just turn black, dont know wat started it but ever since then ive been trying to bring it back to its original version and then mod it once again so i have a few questions i would like to ask unless someone can tell me what is wrong with it before i should do anything harsh. I've tried to do the Xboxhdm ive followed the instruction word for word many times and it still say "Please insert Linux Cd" it is in Ive burnt about 20 of them(not kidding) ive read on another forum that my computer may be to "New" to do this process so is there anyway to do this with my "New" computer or am i screwed. i dont know really anyone that will just let me use there "Old" computer. Another question is should i just bag all of this and buy a chip by Xecuter 3 or something like that... 60 dollars is alot of money for one but if it gets my xbox working i will pay this much. Please Help and Thank you again.

if your computer has an ide port hdm should work. the program, i believe, looks for the cd on one of the primary/secondary ide ports. so sata will not work. if you can disable (sata) that in the bios so that your computer will only boot from ide you will be save i think.

apparently you haven't read enough, there is also a hot swap tutorial that uses xplorer360). then you do not need to use hdm to rebuild (but you still need a computer with an ide port)

with a chip you can boot the slayer disc directly, so no need for other stuff (besides the slayer disc to boot your xbox and rebuild your c-drive).

60 dollar for a modchip... just buy a second hand xbox with a broken dvd drive for less then half the money and switch the dvd drive.

but don't you have (any?) friends that have an old computer? use that one? or buy an old computer for a few dollar, any pentium 2 (or even most p1's) will do. where i live they are near free or can be picked up on the street (by the trash). (i threw away so many the last couple of years)

I have tried to upgrade my HD with Xboxhdm, and got the same error message as you. I did not burn 20 CDs, but at least a half a dozen. My computer is not new by any means- at least 7-8 years old.
I used Chimp instead to clone the new HD.

e drive is optional. you do not have to put files in there. only c drive is necessary, put dash files there.

but read the tutorial, it is a really good one. it even has pictures......... same for the xboxhdm cd, there are pictures in the tutorial. so you can see all the screens to which it boots (on your pc).
