One of my kids has a DS and we are buying the other 2 one for X-mas. I was looking at getting them each the N4DS (not sure what else is out there), but all I keep reading is that they are no good. They are cheap and from what I've watched on youtube seem to be pretty straightforward. I hear tere are alot of coppycat companies making them now. Any suggestions on what to get. Will be buying 3 so price is pretty important, but not as important as getting pieces of junk.
    Thanks for your time...

On gamekool.com and they have one Original R4 DS with EZ-FLASH 3 in 1 expansion pack Combo. What is a 3 in 1 ez flash expansion pack? Or what is the revolution? I've read a lot of people have bought from this site and seems legit. Just not sure which one to get.....

I would advise not getting an R4. The R4 team has left the scene and is not providing further updates. In addition, all current R4 carts are produced by at least 3 separate groups who copied the R4 and made cheap, low-quality knockoffs, eventually driving the real R4 makers out.

I would advise getting either the M3Real or the cycloDS. They do cost a little more than the R4 but they are of higher quality and receive regular updates and new features that the R4 will never get. In my opinion they're both easier to use as well, which might be a consideration for kids.

Anyway, the expansion pack allows them to play gameboy advance games. If they're only interested in DS games then you dont need the expansion.

DealExtreme.com has M3 Real for $28, or $43 with the expansion. If you still want the R4 though make sure you at least get the one that supports SDHC cards, or cards larger than 2gigs. The same site has some of them for under $10. Do remember to order a microSD card to go with the carts though as they dont generally come with them.

Thanks for the reply. I don't see a cd with this. How do you get the folders/files needed on the sd card? Would yu use the same roms ending in nds with this as well? 28 bucks seems just about perfect......

One more thing...Are there size restraints on how big of an sd card you can use for the real?

M3 software is available here http://gbatemp.net/index.php?dlcategory=70 The current highest firmware is 4.2 and was just released yesterday. And yes, it supports clean roms. Just copy the firmware to the microSD in a folder titled "SYSTEM" and the .nds games into a folder called "NDS"

And the real supports any size SD or SDHC card, which from what I understand can theoretically go up to 32gigs but the largest on the market so far is 8gigs.

I would reccomend buying an ezflash v from dealextreme,
i am guessing that your new to the scene so
    heres what you need,

    - a micro sd card (to store the roms/music/movies)
    - a flashcart (i would reccomend EZ-flash)

the ezflash is only $17.40(US) and is the best card avaliable,
the cheapest chip you can get is the top toy DS (TTDS) at only $6.83US

for an 4gb micro sd your looking at $8.60US
i would definitly reccomend getting a 4gb micro SD rather than a 2gb

    links
    Ezflash
    TTDS
    4gb microsd

    best wishes

Thanks so much for the links. I did order just one m3 real to try it out. Ordered from echostore as they are based in the US and shipping should be quick. Ordered yesterday afternoon and already got an email with a tracking number yesterday around 4:45. Not bad.
So really all you do is download that v4.2 and move it to the sd card and move the games there in the appropriate folders? One folder for the files and one for the games?
How about movies? I see it has some moon something they say can play movies??
