Is there a way that I can extract the words and the music from a file???

Also is there a way that I can merge 2 or more audio files together?

You can cut vocals from a song using a wave editor (Audacity, Audition, Nero Wave Editor, etc.) by substracting channels or on playback using a karaoke plugin for a media player like winamp.

Doing it the other way round is a much tougher task. You could try this with a (semi)professional wave editor like Audition:
    1. Stubstact Channels -> Result: Vocals are removed
    2. Use the Result to create a profile for noise removal
    3. Apply noise removal with this profile on the original file.
I'm quite sure you won't be happy with the result, though ;)

About merging: Do you mean append one file after the other or mix two file together so you can hear both files at the same time?

Some lossy formats can be merged directly like mp3 with e.g. mp3directcut. Others need to decoded to .wav and merged using a wave editor.

The audio player Foobar2000 (0.8beta) has a new feature that can do this as well: It's diskwriter can output multiple files from playlist to a single file.
