I set up my TV projector with the box and noticed even after the autoscan with my outdoor antenna, the results are grainy. I set it up as such...antenna out of 'box' to a splitter input, one coming from my vcr video out and the other going from my conv. box to my TV input. I did it this way so I can record. I came across a splitter that was originally meant for cable...it had 1 input, 1 output and the other just says -8db...I don't know what the latter stands for, I just assumed its another output...could that be the reason? Anyone Know what that -8db is all about?

It's a 'Directional Coupler' or an unequal split. The thru leg has less loss than the tap leg. A splitter has 3.5 dB loss per leg.
