I have an LG 47" 1080p LCD HDTV, and feed it video mostly from a HTPC, and have found that using the VGA port I get the best picture. My PC's video card is an ASUS 4870, which allows for an HDMI connection from PC to TV, including sound. It comes with an adapter (yellow) that plugs into the DVI port, and has an HDMI port on the other side. Here's my problem. VGA @ 1920x1080 looks awesome HDMI @ 1920x1080 looks terrible. 1st, the image is too small, so black borders about 1 inch in size surround the picture. 2nd, text looks terrible, squished I think. With an earlier video card, I bought a DVI to HDMI conversion cable. It had the same or very similar problem. Doing reading at the time, the concensus seemed to be that DVI to HDMI cables all result in this problem, just use VGA. My question, has anyone been able to connect their HDTV to a PC with an HDMI cable, and had any level of success? If yes, what might I be doing wrong?
