    I have a issue. Major issue. >_>

    I have my ipod. It's a 30gb 5.5 gen ipod video.

My friend's ipod, is a 6th gen ipod classic. It's audio jack is out, so i told him i'd replace it for him. I didn't realize the the 6th gen's are a lot harder to open than the 5th gens.. I wound up breaking the LCD screen.

Basically now, Im wondering if i can put his 80gb HD in my 30GB ipod, and run 6th gen firmware on my 5.5gen ipod?

Is there anything i can do?

i am not sure about your question but I know LCD screens are about 20bucks on ebay, for the classic. So your not totally screwed here.

Tell him right away, dont forget you were trying to help him out, be honest and he will respect you for it. Its better he knows. Then read a guide about popping the classic open.

I would bet the classic is wired up different than the 5.5 but maybe not.

reminds me of a time I was installing photo shop for a friend on his laptop and when I shut the lid, the mouse cable was on the keyboard and I cracked his lcd. 180 bucks later he had a new lcd via ebay and my labor:) Good luck

yeah i am pretty sure that the 5.5g and the 6g are wired different...
this is why you have your friends fix their own problems.
