I cannot figure out how to solve this problem. Dvd's will all of a sudden make subtle blips and then the audio drops. I need to stop the dvd through the cyberlink ulta software then start again. Our HTPC has a GEforce 6200 video card and we us xp pro. All drivers are up to date. Sometimes we get 3/4 through the dvd and then the problem starts. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix. A bad dvd drive was my first thought, but both of the dvd drives have the same problem. One of them was replaced in the last year. Do you have any other ideas? Kyle
Try ripping the DVd to the HDD and then playback from there. Also try another software to playback, even if its just a trial until to confirm if that has problems on your system.
I've tried different software and all have the problem. How would I go about fixing encryption problems? Is this a common issue? Thanks, Kyle
Hi, encryption problems on the disc cannot be repaired. The only way is to removed it, and that means backing up your dvd and burning a new disc. Also some stand alone dvd players have a problem with the encryption on the disc, and cannot play them correctly, but instead expierence problems on playback. Jo
The DVD should play back without any issues with any standard software DVD player. The fact that none work on your DVD Rom, would suggest that there is an issue with the hardware. I suggested ripping the film to your HDD so you could elliminate the Rom drive as the cause of the problem. I would suggest using anydvd, as this allows you to rip the content from a copyright protected disc. (21 day trial when first loaded) http://www.slysoft.com/en/ If you then use either DVD decrypter set to file mode, or clonedvd from the same download site as anydvd (slysoft) you can again rip in file mode to a folder on your hdd. (free software) http://www.dvddecrypter.org.uk/ You can also rip to iso image, but would need something like power iso to mount the imae before the player would be able to play it. If you try playing the film from the ripped folder, and you still get an issue, then you know that your rom is fine, if the issue goes away, then you're looking at either the rom drive, cable, controller or a driver/software issue. Rom drives do die, and can act up on their way out, so best to test for that before looking into the rest of the system. Maybe try running powerdvd in a small screen with the system resources showing, that way you can see whats happening on the system if and when you get a problem.
