tv tuner card (what Next)

    Hi
    Maybe someone could help me, I bought a new pc that had a tv tuner card installed, But as the pc had a Vista operating system I wiped it and put on xp. I have the drivers for the card installed do I need some sort of tv pc suite software or something like that to use it.The card has aerial in and hd out sockets on it if that my help to understand what I need.

    There are free TV tuner software, you can try chrisTV lite it recognizes alot of tuner cards and it is somewhat easy to use. There are also some more complicated software like mythTV etc.

    If the tuner card has hardware mpeg encoder, I would consider getting some better software like beyondTV. It cost money but it will turn your computer into a TIVO like interface, it'll record programs in the background while you use the computer to do other things.

    If you know the MFG of the tuner card, you can check their website to see if they have particular tuner software for that card. Also if you can't get the card to work download the latest drivers for it.
