When I capture video to my computer, it is stored in avi format. Is there freeware that can compress it to mpeg so that I can burn it to a DVD?

You need to compress it to Mpeg2 and there are No Good Freeware mpeg2 encoders..The Closest thing would be Tmpgenc which has a 30 day Demo for Mpeg2 encodeing and Free for Mpeg1 encodeing But is not usually used for DVD ...You can download it here www.tmpgenc.net .....Cheers
