What does she use now? Your home computer? Anything you buy will be an upgrade.

If you do not want to spend a lot of money don't! You can't buy a computer that isn't 5 times faster than something bought a few years ago. I just upgraded my computer and very few processes have sped up. Unless you are doing 3D gaming that requires heavy duty software, chances are you will not see much difference in the slowest and the fastest computer you can buy. So buy cheap if you do not want to spend the money. You will probably not see much difference in reliability. So don't be afraid to get a cheap one.

Use google shop to shop for a computer. I found a Gateway for a crazy price (maybe 350 USD). If you go onto their site you can't find that deal. The cheapest was 100 more. The google special had half the memory 1 not 2 G and only a 60 G HD. The operating system alone seperatly costs maybe 200 bucks. I was actually shoping for an OS then I realize I could by a much more powerful computer with an LCD screen for 50 bucks and shipping. Then I found my old OS disk.

I might want to try to get a DVD burner. I don't know if the bargins have those. You can buy a good one of those for close to 20 bucks.
