How can I connect my tv to my pc?

Hi,
I want to connect my PC to my Sharp TV. Not only do I want my pc connected to the tv, I want it connected to my monitor also.
I would like to connect my pc to my television using HDMI because it is the best because it also transfers sound, I believe. Anyways, my PC does not have a HDMI port so I'm going to buy a Video Card that has a HDMI port. My monitor, however, does not have a HDMI port. So, what can I do if I want to connect my pc to my tv using HDMI and my pc to my Monitor using VGA.
Is there any way to show both at the same time, so when I want to use the tv, I can just turn that on and go on my computer on the tv, but still have it on on my pc?

 

You don't buy a video card that has HDMI ports, I'm not even sure if they exist. Assuming your GPU has dual DVI ports you need to buy a DVI to HDMI cable to run to your TV.

You can leave your monitor hooked up the way it is, set it up so your TV is a second monitor.

 

Video cards with HDMI ports do indeed exist, I want to connect it using HDMI because that will carry over the sound.
