monitor resolution

    I had my monitor set on a high res (something like 1440 x ? it is a 21")then I got a virus and had to reinstall vista.now the highest it will let me go to is like 1024 x 768.I have searched for new drivers for the video card and it says I have the newest.what can I do to get the resolution back?

    It's been a while so my memory is a bit foggy but Vista pulled this garbage on me where I had huge black bars on both sides of my monitor. I seem to remember that the resolution had to be adjusted from the start list of program's or the toolbar, display wouldn't do it. I believe my video card control's were there and could be set properly. Hope this help's.

    I can get to the screen to adjust it but the highest option now is 1024 x 756

    I got it.it was because I had it on clone monitor insted of extend.thanks for the help anyway man.
