Xvid video with mpeg layer 3 audio 2 DVD problem

    I've been trying to convert some xvid movies to a watchable dvd / vcd format.

    the trouble i'm having is with the audio, when i rip the audio with avi2wav,virtual dub,dvd2avi, TMPEnc just says I/O error.

    at this piont i am trying to multiplex my pre coded video with my ripped wav.

    GSPOT tells me the audio is MP3, i have tried some .wav, same thing.

    any ideas?

    can anyone point me to a decent ripping guide, one that is specifically for xvid to dvd mpeg-2 and deals with audio other than ac3
