I removed it to slave another hard drive. (i have only one ide slot) a few months later, when i plug ide cable into dvd drive, on boot up computer does not recognize hard drive. shut down unplug ide from dvd drive, everything boots up fine. I've tried the jumper pin for cable select, master, slave. Every combination i could think of.
yes i have. i've tried switching ends on the cable[flip flop it], tried the hard drive in both slots and it only boots up when dvd drive is not present.
