I just hooked up a Samsung PN42A450 and when the image gets too bright it will go black just for a second, sometimes sound will go out instead. I currently have everything hooked up through a selector using component cables.

The cables are Monster or something like that. I've read on what little I could find on Google that it could be the cables. But it is as if no one else has ever really experienced the problem.

Does anyone know what might be the cause and how I might fix it?

A box that takes in multiple inputs and based upon which one is selected to be "on", that output goes into the TV.

Did you try not using the switch box, going direct into the TV?

Just tried it, and that fixed it. Looks like I will have to shell out money on one that can support HD signals.
