You provide a very good guide on how to perform the above, however there appear to be problems with the software and the software providers do not seem to have an answer. I tried using this in 04/08 and got an error that a lot of users have reported on the TrustFM site. The problem I reported was as follows; I have just installed Avi2Dvd because I wanted to convert an MKV file to DVD. When you carry out Step 1 - Browse for the MKV file and choose to open. Avi2Dvd Window Header Says "Analyzing Source ...Please Wait" Then a popup Error appears "Access Violation at address 00551178 in module 'Avi2Dvd.exe'. Read of address 00000000" I have tried on 2 pcs PC1 - Intel Dual Core Pentium Laptop - T2060 @ 1.6GHz with 1Gb ram Win XP Pro - SP2 + all latest updates PC2 - Intel P4 2.6GHz - 1Gb ram Win XP Pro - SP2 + all latest updates Both those PCs now have SP3. I have now tried on another PC. Intel Dual Core Pentium - E8400 @ 3.00GHz with 4Gb ram. Win XP Pro - SP3 + all latest updates The same exact problem occured. I hope somebody at Afterdawn has seen this problem and figured out a fix or workaround. Any info would be much appreciated. Phil
Well, probably, either the program doesn't like the container, or it's having a problem with the program source. What is the video? H264? Try using avstodvd instead. http://sourceforge.net/projects/avstodvd/
Thanks for your reply. I wouldn't have thought it was the container as it will not allow you to select the file if the container contains any non std characters. Here is all the info I have been able to obtain on the source file. Can you play this file in Windows media player? Try AvstoDVD (they've just released a new version) It uses Avisynth via "directshowsource" to open the MKV. I just tried it with a similar MKV of my own, and the results are beautiful. Gives you have a choice of HCenc or Quenc encoders. I've got FFDshow and Haali MKV splitter installed. You'll need same or similar.
