hello i have read the main conversion thread and searched but i have not found any answers to my problems i am having trying to convert a mkv to avchd to play in my panny bd35 player. it used to work until about 1 or 2 weeks ago and i am racking my brain trying to figure it out. here is my workflow that i usually follow that used to work but it does not work anymore. any help would be appreciated... 1. take the mkv file in tsMuxerGUI and look at the resolution then remux it to a mt2s file using the 4.1 video format. 2. create a avs file for MEGui 0.3.1.1005 that has the following assuming that the video resolution from tsMuxerGUI shows 1920x816p. AVS file DirectShowSource("c:\temp\video.m2ts") AddBorders(0,132,0,132) 3. open the avs in MEGui program using the Ryu77 profile and the RAWAVC option for the fileformat. then i set the bitrate to allow compression to a DVD5 or DVD9. then start the encoding. 4. after 6-10 hours the video is all converted/compressed. i now take the .264 file then the mt2s file into the tsmuxergui program then remove the wrong vid and create a blu-ray disc. after the conversion is completed if i take the 00001.m2ts file and open it into txmuxergui the resolution is now showing 1920x1702p. this is where i have no idea of what is going on and need some help.... also another thing i noticed is if i open the m2ts file in media player classic it shows 2 status information screens instead of one. also if i see the info status in the media player classic i see that there are 2 resolutions, one shows input size of 1920x816p and the other shows a output size of 1920x1440p so i think that the avs script is applying it to the output size. i am not sure if the megui program changed but i tried downgrading it to the last stable version and it did the same thing. thanks james
Are you using the latest version of tsMuxeR? 1.8.8b? http://www.smlabs.net/tsMuxer/tsMuxeR_1.8.8(b).zip Also, you can try recoding directly from the mkv instead of the m2ts. In the mean time, demux the audio from the source mkv, remux the new .264 stream and the demuxed audio stream.
odin24 i was using the txmuxergui 1.8.4 but i don't think that is the problem. the strange thing is that i took an original file at 1920x1080 (the input size mplayer classic shows but it also shows the output size showed 1920x1440)and just ran it through the old and new txmuxergui and created a avchd disc and it kept the input resolution just fine. i then ran the same mkv vid through megui without the "addborders" command and just set the bitrate to fit a dvd5 and when the file was completed the input resolution was the same as the "Output" size 1920x1440. i think that is were the problem is, can you think of what might cause this? thanks James
This seems crazy. I'm not sure what it is, unless whomever encoded it first accidentally resized to 1920x1440. Could you upload a small sample of the source mkv so I can have a look.
odin24 i know it is crazy that i why i have no idea what is going wrong, i have been doing this for about 8months now but until recently i have had no problems. the only thing i can remember is that i did was re-associated the mt2s and mkv files to play with mplayer classic. i have tried many different mkv files but they all do the same thing. i don't know how to uploade files but i put one on my website you can download. go to http://www.justuslees.com/vid2-001.rar thanks James
KW2000, 1440 x 1080 is a resolution that is Blu-ray/AVCHD compliant. It is quite common with free to air digital HDTV. Your media file is anamorphic widescreen that within the media container there is metadata that signals the player to stretch the video to the correct widescreen aspect ratio.
KW2000, I just tried your sample and everything worked fine for me, before and after I recoded the video, (1920x816 and 1920x1080) tsMuxeR and MPC showed the correct resolution. I suggest you go back to your presets before you changed them.
odin24 i think i found my problem, i just started uninstalling a program one at a time then reinstalling and tested. well it seems that it was failing everytime until i updated the cccp comunity codec pack to the latest version. after that the sample file i uploaded converted just fine. i am in the process if testing with a a few vids to see if the problem is fixed once an for all. thanks james
