I have been given a 4Gig AVI file which I need can't play. I have been told AVI format only supports upto 2Gig an so I would need to split it in half. Is there any application that will split a file this large?? All tools I have tried report "Not an AVI file". Any help will be much appreciated.
Delda, Thanks for the reply. I have already tried using Vdub without success. Can vDub definately open a 4gig avi file??
4 gig is massive even for avi are you sure that the file plays for someone else. Theres a chance it could be corrupted unless of coarse you ripped it properly yourself
The avi file was created by time delay capturing security cameras. The movie file is usually archived daily without problem. Sombody was ill or somthing and the app rolled on and the avi file just got bigger. I was asked to see if it couold be split into individual days. As far as I know the file is not corrupted just very big. Thanks for your help.
I think Windows 98 and 95 have a max filesize of about 2 or 3 gig. Tell me did you copy it to your computer or was it recorded directly to it cause that may be the case. If you've Win XP, 2000 or ME I think that that isn't a problem
ive had some pretty bad experiences with movies but none of them have involved a 4 gig file im bedazzled as to whats causeing the problem
The crap app should have split the movie automatically to maintain a maximum 2gig filesize, but as I said...it's a crap app. Does anybody know how I can make a 4gig avi file useable?
