    Hi,

from what you have stated, your problem can be caused by any of the conditions you have stated, including a bad download.

    Process of elimination,

    First,

what brand of discs are you burning, and what speed ?

Also dvd shrink does not work with Nero 8 and 9

I dont think its encoding because i am using the same program and speed forever its got to be the disks or bad downloads. I was given 180 disks free so maybe its that, they arent a name brand

    @Dan_61

One cannot expect top quality burns from low quality discs.

Use Taiyo Yuden, Verbtaim, or Sony.

Use Dvd Identifier to put an MID on the discs, copy and paste that info here so we can see what you're using.

    7thsinger,
On the topic of Media, Are there different grades of Sony or are all Sony discs of good quality? I have been blindly ordering Taiyo Yuden off the net because I have had no problems but I recently gave in and got a costco card and they have Sony 100 pack priced at 29.50, buy one get one free. So I bought them and have burned a few discs and watched a couple with no problems. Do you know if these have had problems?

    Here's the Identifier info

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:SONY16D1]
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Disc & Book Type : [DVD-R] - [DVD-R]
Manufacturer Name : [Sony Recording Media Co.]
    Manufacturer ID : [SONY16D1]
    Blank Disc Capacity : [2,298,496 Sectors = 4.71 GB (4.38 GiB)]
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    [ DVD Identifier V4.2.0 - http://DVD.Identifier.CDfreaks.com ]
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Peace,
    Don

    Sony makes good media.

I think these are just an older batch. I haven't run any of my recent Sony discs through Dvd Identifier, but i think these code out as being older media. You shouldn't have any issues with these though as long as you don't attempt to burn them at too high a speed.

I'm not by any means a media expert though. ;)
