I have an older Sony High Definition T.V. It is a 2003 model with the DVI plug in for HDMI hookup. My Question is what is the true format for this T.V. or DVI in general. Can DVI produce up to 1080 are would it just be 720.I cannot find the manuals on this T.V. so I can look it up.Im fixing to get Dish HD and was just wondering what type of picture I will be getting.

The DVI was prior to HDMI, and it only carries video signals. The set is either 720P capable,or as high as 1080i. The DVI connection will handle the highest resolution that the set will display. I have a Sony 42 lcd rear projection with a highest res of 1080i. Most tv's smaller that 42" will more than likely have up to 720P.
You can connect the HDMI output from a source (DVD player, Cable/Satellite receiver) using an adapter, or HDMI to DVI cable.
