On the advice i took from another thread, i installed both the XviD and ffdshow codecs because i had a video that would not play properly. after i installed them, the video played fine. However many of my other video files stopped playing properly, i would get sound but the video would not play. i could skip forward and have the video get stuck on a frame, and i could hear the audio after that point, but no video play. I believed this was due to a conflict between codecs, so i uninstalled both my new codecs, but the problem persisted. If this has happend to you or you think you know what's going on, please help. thanks
Well, just to be on the safe side, i deleted my registry, it was due for a cleanup anyway. My movies still won't play, the DivX variety or mpeg4/DVD . I used Gspot and it said i had 5 codecs that worked, yet no play yet...dagnabit.
Update: I Deleted all the codecs i could find, and installed DivX Total Codec pack. My files now play again, Woot.
Do even the movies that you couldn't play properly now work? I have had the exact same problem since installing ffdshow and i don't want to go back and forth installing and uninstalling it depending on what movie i want to watch...please help!!!
Hi, I have a video which won't run on my computer because I'm missing some codec. I downloaded ffdshow and the video still doesn't seem to work. Do I need to do something in the settings of ffdshow or windowsmediaplayer in order to get it to work properly?? Thanks for your help, Alex
