testing my CD key

    Id like to try to test my CD Key for Windows XP Home. with a CD. I downloaded an ISO and burned it to a CD.. Was hoping to test my CD Key before i format/reinstall XP home to my laptop.

    anyideas. CEaz.

    Test it in VM

    I never heard of a program or validation of a key with out installing.

    I know my CD Key is legit.. but im not sure if it will activate this version of XP Home.

    Windows XP Home Version 2002 SP3 (currently installed, taken from My PC/Properties)

    if your key is for xp home then it will activate xp home.cheers

    NO.. it will allow xp-home to install.. activation is a completely separate thing.. and there are tools to back up and reinstate your activation... winkeyfinder 1.72 (google it) has the feature.

    i read the site for Winkeyfinder. but it doesn;t explain what activation is// Can you give me a quick little summary

    if its a legitimate key activation should be no problem.i am not trying to be argumentitive,but for gods sake just try it.

    I agree with aldan. Worst case scenario, you'll get a message that your activation fails with an 800 number that you can call. I've called it before and it's always been an automated line. You simply type in the numbers from your screen into the phone (or you can verbally read the numbers) and you'll receive a set of numbers to enter into your computer and you're done. It's less than 5 minutes.
