hello my motherboard recently got fried during a power surge and im going to buy a bargain rate motherboard to replace it and im looking at this one Foxconn M7PMX-S LGA 775 NVIDIA GeForce 7100 / nForce 630i HDMI Micro ATX Intel Motherboard it can be found on newegg now im new to switching motherboards have never done it before..but the socket for the processor is lga775 and i have a Pentium D processor now under cpu type it states this CPU Type Quad-core / Core 2 Extreme / Core 2 Duo / Pentium just pentium..so am i to assume when they say pentium...the are talking about all the pentium cpu's that will fit into a lga775 socket are supported on this board? any help would be appreciated thank you
I do not have any experiance with that brand of Mother board. I did some research and depending on your processor will determine what board you should buy. thank you very much the both of you i appreciate it and i agree seems if i follow the installation steps properly i should be fine i have checked the pins and they match for the power switch cheers again.
One thought before you replace your motherboard. Unless it has the same chipset as your old one and/or you were using generic IDE drivers on the old one you will need to get another HDD and reinstall everything. You can still copy your data from the old HDD but don't expect (you may get lucky) to boot your old HDD off of the new mobo.
