Is there a program that will quickly read a copy and tell me if there are any problems with it. I frequently put my copy away unwatched, only to find days later that there is a problem
First off, before replacing your burner, what media are you using? At what speed are you burning your disks? When you are burning, are you burning too close to the edge? Does your burner have the most updated firmware? All these can lead to bad burns.
Tis ok, Jo. I used to think it was burner only when I first started. I learned from a few here (your endo included) it could be something else and to check first before buying a new one. Ray
Thanks for the info, but--assuming there is nothing wrong with the burner, the firmware is up to date, I am using good discs and burning at the right speed, is there a software program that I can run that will tell me that the burn was successful and without error's ?
Hi, if you burn with Nero, there is a data verification feature. But Creaky says that that feature is notoriously flawed. Jo
There are a few programs that offer verification - is it always accurate maybe not - the disc may still be playable since dvd players can be more forgiving. So a glitch here or there may be ignored. To check the copy if you don't have Nero you can download the standalone app in Nero that will do a scan and a quality test. The scandisc scans the disc for any errors - the quality test rates the disc and gives you the different scores. It has on the site all drives are supported but I'm not 100% sure about this. link Then there's this one - DVDinfoPro. I'm not sure what drives it supports. Need help reading them - see this thread - link. In you case I'd do the scan disc first - remember green is good in this test
