thanks for the infomation ddp. do you know if there is a way to inject my own drivers into the windows xp setup?
i think you can do it when making the xp lite disk. do a search on the site especially in this forum for that info as that is how i know about it.
now for the real answer... you need a program called "Nlite" with that you will be able to "strip" down any copy of XP and add whatever you want to it.. For Vista use Vlite.
thanks for that i have used it to strip the contents of the disc but i am having a problems with the ativation of it now. please can you help me with this. so install on vmware to test it and then i get the activation screen and the problem is be not a real copy of windows i that i cant activate it. so if you know how to fix help please. thanks graham
i'm guessing the copy your using is a retail copy..and those only have a limited number of installs from the retail serial number. Try to get ahold of a copy of Windows XP Pro Corporate Edition. That kind of copy will let you install windows as many times as you want..and normally there is no serial needed.
i am using XP Pro Corporate Edition for this project an normally like you said theres no activation. do you i think i could backup an activation file from installed version of xp and then replace the one on the new install. would that work?????
it could work, but that might be kinda tricky getting it to work...it might be easier to just find a new copy on the net someplace and download a new copy.
thanks for all your input i am looking for new copy now so hope to find one soon. thanks again for all help
