I have been given a 1Gb shuffle and a 16Gb iTouch. However, the previous owner had synced them both to his computer. I want to keep the music that is on them, but I don't want to keep them synced to his computer (nor do I really want to sync them to my own, I'd rather manage them manually). Is there any way for me to unsync both these iPods and manage them manually without losing the music already on them?

I'm running iTunes 8.0.2.20 if that will change the answer :)

    Cheers

OK the there's a few utilities on the net that allows you to transfer music from the ipod back to the computer, unfortunately the only good free one i know Idump, does not support ipod touch, well at least not the 2 gen, i have second gen 32 gb touch and tried it and idump would not read it, how ever you can try it, i don't know if your touch is 1st or 2nd gen, idump also will work with the shuffle, you have to have the sync cable for the shuffle as they are different from the regular ipod. Good luck.
