I bought an XBOX 360 right when they came out. It came with a faulty disc drive that frequently comes up with an error that tells me to clean the disc and restart the console. This has been happening ever since I got it. I know I should have acted during my warranty period, but now that it's up, I have to find a solution on my own.

    I see three options:
    1. Install a mod chip (Globe 360) in order to copy my games to the hard drive and play them from there. (I usually just stick with one or two games at a time until they're beaten then move on)
    2. Install another XBOX 360 disc drive
    3. Install the modded Samsung 616T disc drive.

I have access to tools such as a microscope, soldering iron, etc. I could probably do anything that is necessary to do any mod. Installing a new disc drive would probably be the easiest, but having a mod chip seems pretty cool. I'm just looking for advice as to what is recommended.

...or I could pot. I'm still kinda curious about the mods though.

I'm probably gonna get yelled at for starting a new thread about this, but I'd still like advice.
