Hello i just bought PS3 and external hard drive Western digital ( MY BOOK ). my idea in mind was that i put blu ray movies in my external harddrive from internet downloaded and then connect the hard drive usb to PS3 and tananana ! watching a blu ray movie but i was wrong first my hard drive was FAT32 system , but when i wanted my freind to copy his blu ray movies to my hard drivehe couldnt because system FAT32 cant take more than 4GB he formatted my hard drive and made it NTFS now i know that PS3 dont accept any hard drive that is not FAT32 , it doesnt even recongize it !! so my first question is: 1- how i can solve this problem ? playing bly ray movies from the NTFS system hard drive since FAT32 cant handle the 8GB OR 14GB blu ray movies for example ! then i used my flash memory which is FAT32 and copied a blu ray movies which is 2.5GB ( Kung Fu panda ) , when i connect it to PS3 and i click the triangle button to display all , nothing was there ! so here comes my second question : 2- With FAT32 system flash memory how can i play blu ray movies on my PS3? i`v read alot of posts about this but i really didnt understand since they are talking about some topics i dont understand . plz help !!
oh i used tsMuxer to transfer bluray movie to .m2ts and i can play it on ps3 now ! but i feel that the quality is not exaclty as the blu ray movie when i play it frm my pc , i feel that the quality after transforming to .m2ts is less . does that happen after transfering or am just dreaming !
You're dreamin'. If your m2ts is just a remux from a BD rip it is the same thing as the BD itself. The only thing that might be different is if your TV is capable of displaying 24p (120Hz refresh rate), playing from m2ts might display at 30p, 60Hz, whereas the BD would display 24p. For full BD rips (main movie only) on a FAT32 drive check out this thread.

You'd be better off playing from the Blu-ray disc to get the best possible quality. However, you're not losing much viewing as an m2ts either. Is your TV broadcast system PAL or NTSC? If it is PAL then this could be the cause of you noticing differences. If you play a BD it will play as 23.976fps... as it should, regardless of the region. That same movie (encoded at 23.976fps) played as a m2ts file on a PAL system will play at 25fps, this could also be the cause for the differences.
thanks again yes my tv system is pal sorry mate but didnt understand that what do u telling me to do in simple words ? and thanks for the link that is talking about FAT32 system and how transfer movie to watch it in ps3 there are few things i didnt understand and since that forum need form e to wait 5 days before putting any replay for a new member ! am gonna ask u here if u are ok with that what i uderstant from that guy is first to transfer a blu ray movie to M2TS file and use splitter for doing 4 GB then do a file in ur external hard drive and call it AVCHD and inside it do another file called BDMV inside that file put the film that has been transfered to M2TS form. i did that and when i run the AVCHDMe and brows the file an error message appear which is : No m2ts or mts files found in D:\AVCHD\BDMV\STREAM Try again, making sure you select the BDMV folder !!! can u help me ?
Using tsMuxeR, search for the m2ts file that has the main movie. -Use the Split option and split every 4GB. -Choose Blu-ray as the output -Start Muxing Once that is complete you should have a BDMV and Certificate folder. Place those in a folder called AVCHD. Using AVCHDMe browse for the BDMV folder that tsMuxeR made and apply the AVCHDMe changes, the "rename" option, and "FixCLPI" option. Once this is done place the AVCHD folder on the root of a FAT32 device, plug into the PS3. It should now show a USB icon in the Video section, press X... it should now say AVCHD.. press X again and the movie should start.
thanks odin ! u was a great help for me there is a another problem i had but not with transfering i connected my exxternal hard drive to my laptop and my laptop to sony LCD thorugh HDMI cable but there is a problem in displaying there is like a line that is coming from up to the down in the TV screen ! when i see it in my laptop i dont see that line its like an old tv which in some time display a line that moves from top to bottom of screen ! is that something to do with refresh rate or something i can adjust in my laptop ? like some settings ? thanks
You can only have one output at a time... you cannot have a display on your laptop and your TV. You need to configure the laptop's display settings to "TV out", once you do this the display on your laptop will be off. Change it back on your TV's display after your movie.
Can you go with detailes with me please i opened display settings there is nothing like tv-out there many things but what u said isnt there
also as u said i have display on both tv and laptop without doing fn+F something i just connected the cable and the picture comes on tv
