hi is it possible to convert dvd to divx hd 1080 so i can watch it on my hd tv with 1080 resolution . and if not what would be the best resolution to be displayd on my hd tv ? thank you

Why don't you just get an upconverting DVD player ?
Much less trouble.
As far as I know, most standalone players will not play mpeg-4
(divx-xvid) at such a high resolution.

see the idea is i am connecting my pc to the hd tv through out hdmi cable so insted of having monitor will have my pc displayd on the hd tv

Well that's a specific thing that you should have mentioned in your
first post! Yes it's possible. However, most media players have
on the fly resize options. Have you tried that to see if it's
sufficient?
If not you can try Divx using one of the Divx HD profile, or an
alternative that's popular, use H264/AVC in an MKV or MP4 container.

thank you for the response i am using divx codec and dgmpgdec insted of dvd2avi also i am using vfapi converter than virtualdub latest version what you think ? is this good package to convert dvd to divx? please response thank you

yes but i have no control over the divx codec there is no option to open it and do my own setting but let me tell you something i was converting my dvd to divx with virtualdub in 1920 x 1080 but the frame rate was very low it was 7 fps that will take like 8 hours of encoding although i have very fast core i7 cpu what you think will be the reason is it because i am encoding in the highest resulotion ?
