Hi, hope this is the right forum but I am looking for a media streamer (I've looked into the popcorn hour and tivx but thought I could get more straightforward answers on here). I need something that can play .vob files and internet videos (such as Hulu, etc.) and I would like something that can act as a dvr. From what I've read, I like the PH but I wasn't sure if it could work as a dvr or not. Thanks for any info on either player.

My suggestion is to buy an Xbox 360 arcade console and set up a network using Windows Media player 11. It works very well and almost every (it seems) has an xbox already.

My suggestion if you go this route is not to use Windows Media Center, but only Windows Media Player 11.

Will the Xbox do all of those things? I ended up buying a Popcorn Hour and so far am not very happy with my purchase. Setting up the network seems impossible at this point. Do you have the xbox network setup?

You know, now that I think about it I don't think it can play .vob files. I am not positive though. It reads most video/music/picture files.

My suggestion is to buy a cheap one on Kijiji or Craigslist. Buy one without the Hard drive because you won't need it.
