I keep my music on an external hard drive. Most of the time I-tunes finds it just fine. Sometimes my hard drive letter changes from E: to F:
I'm not sure what triggers this , but then I-Tunes cant find the music. Is there a way to tell I-tunes to look on a different drive?
I use an HP laptop ZD7000 with Pentium III bty. The external HD is USB.

    Thanks,
    teday

the problem you have is the constant drive letter change, i suggest mapping the drive so that when you connect or disconnect it will retain the drive letter you assign to it, is not hard at all, bellow is a link to a step by step tutorial, then all you have to do is point itunes to look for that drive, bellow also a link to an apple article about this, Good Luck.

Thanks! Those are great articles. I suppose I should map my drive as some letter far down in the alphabet like W so there's no chance I could have several peripherals plugged in and confuse the system.
My usb card reader uses 4 different drive letters when plugged in.
I was having a hard time wrapping my mind around what was going on but this helps a lot.
