Does anyone know how to access your home PC from a remote location. (example: across town) I repair home PC's in my spare time and would like the have my desktop accessible at all times

    A program called RealVNC.
    http://www.realvnc.com/
It's pretty straightforward, obviously just remember the PC has to be switched on for you to use it :D

I too use RealVNC, and have done for years! Just make sure you setup the port forwarding on your router to ensure you can access it from anywhere!

If you don't want to pay the fee for RealVNC there is also UltraVNC which is free.

I didn't have to pay for RealVNC, I got the free version from the website. However, to use it over the internet you may have to get the paid up version, I only use it over a home network.
