I recently installed the HP C4599 on my PC and then I noticed things starting to slow down, not severely but enough to annoy you during everyday use. The first time I installed the printer and noticed the slowdown I figured it was just time to reformat and I do it about every eight months and it had been six months since my last reformat.(I had been doing a lot of downloading and deleting larger files so I figure that was the reason for having to reformat early.) Instead of completely reinstalling the OS I used a disk image I created to restore my computer back to almost a completely fresh state. The restoration seem to fix my problems for a little while until I tried to install the printer again. Then after the installation the slowdown began again. I've done several virus and spyware scans and they all come back negative. I have read I have a 2.4 GHz Intel dual core with four gigs of RAM and right now I only have basic programs installed all of which previously ran beautifully. Thanks
Yes this could be the case i have had a similar issue with a HP printer and Software. What i did is as soon as windows loads i started taskmanager go under the processes tab and watch what is tasking your cpu. Most of the time it should be system idle process if it is something else you could end process but this will only help untill you restart. I had to edit my registry to solve the problem because it had something with hp software wanting constanly scan for updates. You can also check if hp has updated drivers and software on there site I had bought a new printer and only after about 2 weeks they had it taken care of and i was able to reset my registry back to the right way. Goodluck Hope this helps you
I didn't notice anything in particular and the task manager, but I did reinstall the printer with the latest drivers and it seemed to take care of the problem. Thanks for the help. Hopefully someone else will find this useful as well.
