I'm running on a Nvidia Geforce 2 GTS at a resolution of 1024 x 768 and I'm wondering if I could turn up the resolution to one of the following (they are supported by my monitor) without messing up the whole system:

    640 x 480: 120 Hz
    800 x 600: 110 Hz
    1024 x 768: 85 Hz
    1152 x 864: 75 Hz
    1280 x 1024: 65 Hz

Mess up what? The woest that can happen is that you can't see a display after changing the setting.

If you're running Windows you have 15 seconds of "test mode" after which it reverts to the previous settings.

So if you change the resolution and than click on apply and I don't see anything, after 15 seconds it goes back to normal?

    Yes.

If you don't believe me, try this:

From the dsktop, right-clik --> properties --> settings.

Change the color depth from 32 bpp to 16 bpp.

Follow the dialog. Cancel it or leave it for 15 sec. and it will rever to what you had previously.

Looks like your monitor doesn;t support 1280 x 1024 or not at that refresh rate. Are you sure the set the refresh rate at or lower than 65Hz?

Not saying that I don't believe you, but I don't think that your monitor fully supports 1280 x 1024.

    What's the make/model number?
