Do you have a recovery disc, windows (OS) installation disc or a separate partician for recovery?

usually you can buy recovery discs from Dell.
You could download a disc image of windows (assuming you use windows)

You used to get a pack of discs with your computer but they switched to storing all that directly on the harddrive as a recovery partition.

Does anything show up before it says control alt del?
Normally it will load up with a splash screen that says Dell on it. Plus press f something to view setup or something along those lines.
Does your computer do anything like that?

What operating system is on it?

That rules out the recovery partition.

All I was trying to get you to do was either repair windows or you may even have to reinstall windows.
