Making serveral VOB files into a DVD with chapters

I have 10 vob files. How can I make them into a DVD with each vob files is a chapter so that I select which the chapter on my DVD player ?

 

Do you have the IFO and BUP files that go with these VOB's?

 

If the answer to dialysis1's question is "No", you'll want to get a freeware program called IFOedit.

You'll need to do a little prep work, first: Create 10 folders, each one named for the video clip it will contain. Inside of each one, create another folder named "VIDEO_TS" (don't forget the underscore). Put each *.VOB file into the corresponding VIDEO_TS folder and make sure to rename it, if necessary, to "VTS_01_1.VOB".

Next, run IFOedit and click "Create IFOs", at the bottom. Navigate to one of the folders and go to the VTS_01_1.VOB file. After a few seconds, you will have new *.IFOs and *.BUPs for your video. Repeat for each clip.

Once you've finished (or if the answer to the question was "Yes") you can use TMPGenc DVD Author to combine those titles into one DVD image.

Once the program starts, click "Start A New Project". On the next page, click "Source Wizard". On the first dialog box, tick "DVD-Video, DVD-VR or DVD-RAM", then click "Next". Navigate to the first clip and highlight the main folder (it's not necessary to go all the way to the VIDEO_TS folder - just the one it's in), click "OK" then "Next". In the next dialog, make sure both options are unticked, since you want your own chapter points and the files are already on your hard drive. Click "OK" and a giant dialog box will appear - you can just click "OK", on that one, too.

You'll find yourself back in the original window, so click "Source Wizard", again, and repeat these steps for each clip.

When you've loaded in all 10 clips, Click "Settings", in the box on the left, and, under "Clip Linking", choose "Link Clips" (you don't necessarily have to but, if you don't, there will be a slight pause between each clip). Click "OK".

Next, create your Menu (which I won't go into, here - there are a couple of good tutorials on AfterDawn for menu creation in TMPGenc).

Lastly, go to "Output" and, under "Target Size", choose "None". This will insure that the video is not re-encoded during the process. Click "Start Output" and wait. If there are no problems with the source videos, it should take under an hour to build your new DVD image.

Thanks. It took me several years of trial-and-error to find the right programs to do that sort of thing the way I wanted to do it so, now that I know, I figured I should share the information and save the next newb from having to go through all that I went through.

 

I do have the IFO and VFO file.

I try to edit the IFO with no avail. Each vob file has numerous chapters. Thus when I need to go the next VOB file in the DVD player, I need forward many times in order to proceed to the next vob files. Each vob file is approx 20 min.

Thanks Zapph. I tried using the TMPGEnc DVD Author as u suggested and I can accomplish my intention without go through your IFO steps. However , the file size ballooned from 4.3 GB to 5.8GB. Why ?

Nevertheless, I shrink it again using DVDfab. Now everything works for me but wondering why my movies file size is increasing significantly.
