I just finished installing Ubuntu 8.10 on my Playstation 3 with alternative installation image and everything went OK. but in the graphical login screen i'm stuck.
it keep saying that password's wrong but i'm almost %100 sure i write the password i gave. anyways, maybe, i mistyped during installation.

But i can't go no further now, how can i fix this problem?
I've read many threads, messages but everyone (even the official ubuntu help) proposes solutions assuming i'm using a "grub" installer (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LostPassword) but no
this alternative installation cd is using Kboot and i can't fix the problem with proposed solutions...

so, how can i create a new user or change password for an existing user.. (btw, after so many tries, now i'm not even sure about the user-name)

as you can see, i'm pretty new to linux world so please explain as simple as you can.. Thanks a lot in advance

The logical solution would be to simply format and start again... It isn't like you'll be losing anything,

The other option would involve booting into single user mode, which throws you into a command prompt as root I believe. Then just do your worst.

    Ok thanks fellas..

I already erased the Linux partitions and reformat PS3 to allocate all space to PS3.

It seems, i will have no advantage of using Linux. Cause all i wanted to do is playing DIVX movies (which XMB can not play) and also MKV videos..
Since Linux did not help about that, i just erased it.
