ok i have cod 4 and version 1..... im not sure its the first one and when i try updating to 1.6 it gives me an error saying another version of this product is already installed.installation of thsi version cannot continue.to configure or remove exsisting version of this product,use Add/Remove programs on the control pannel. {8A15B7D9-908A-4EF9-BA84-5AEDE61743EE} i went into add or remove programs and uninstalled a call of duty 4 but still get this error. i do have a legit key and i can play on legit 1.00 server. Helpp i wanna play with all of my friends and on there servers. if you have any info that can help please do so thanks you.
instead of installing the update through the game, go here and download the patch, then run it and see if it works (make sure your game is installed in C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4) http://files.filefront.com/Call+of+Duty+4+Modern+Warfare+v16+Patch/;10492517;/fileinfo.html and if you downloaded the game from steam, use steam to update it
i fixed it anyway. and thats what i was doing for each one i couldn't update through the game for some reason.
