Mic converted to USB?

    Ok I know there are adapters made to convert a regular mic jack with audio to a usb, and that there are mics with usb connection. I kinda just want to rig my own up. Any ideas how? My regular jacks aren't working so I am trying to resolve it another way. Thank you much appreciated.

    Cheaper and easier to buy a USB Mic unless you know how to write a device driver.
