Problems with sound card after installing XP

    I have just installed XP after getting a boot virus on my machine which was running on Vista basic, i have now installed all my software back onto my PC but have no sound on investigationit appears i have no sound card, how can this be when i haven't physically taken anything from my machine & how can i fix it ?

    You need to install the drivers. look on the manufactures website.

    if reinstalling drivers doesnt do it,visit microsoft help and support.email them with your problem and they will usually reply in a couple of days.same thing happened to me and it worked.its free as well.

    Thanx alot guys, its been a journey but i got there eventually, went to the manufacturers website "emachines" they didn't have the driver (Figures !!)but they did tell me to go to the realtek website who did so i downloaded the driver from there.
