Help with Sony Bravia KDL40W4000/ Xbox 360 problem please

#1 02 Feb 2009 @ 7:47
I have a 360 plugged in to a Sony Bravia 40W4000 tv using a component cable. Problem I am having is that when I 1st turn on the 360 and change to the component channel on the tv I receive sound but no picture from 360. After a few times booting the 360 up I receive a black and white picture, after a few more times a grainy colour picture, then eventually after a few more attempts the proper 1080p colour signal. This happens every time I go to use my 360.

Is this likely a problem with my tv component inputs or my 360? I have previously had the 360 into my PC monitor and received HD graphics no problem. Also, I have changed the component cable so that can't be the problem. Thanks in advance.

Do you have it set correct for your tv on the 360,You will have to go into the settings on the 360 and set it up for whatever it is.Also do you have the switch correct on the plug itself. Also I believe the 360 only does 1080i not p.Just throwing some ideas out there for ya

Yeah mate, the switch on the cable is set to HDTV and there is an option in my 360 setting to select 1080p which my TV supports so I presumed it would work.

try changing the cable off of high deffinition, and also try using like a dvd player on that channel of the component cable as well. just to see if it is the tv or xbox. sounds like it might be a high-def prob.

Thanks I tried a different input through the component and it worked every time. Also changing my 360 lead off HD made it work all the time too.

I take it this means it is a 360 problem and not my tv. Anyone had this happen before or offer any advice please? Sounds strange to me.
