I'm not quite sure where to post this but here it goes. I've been trying to copy about 200gb of data from an old 250gb internal EIDE to a new 500gb internal SATA. Windows keeps giving me the error "Cannot Read From Source File Or Disk" after a long hesitation. I'm trying "copy all" and then "paste" into the new drive. I've also tried to use Acronis to copy the partition to the other drive and it won't because it can't use dynamic disks. Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you tried copying a small portion first?

I'm not positive, but I believe if you try to copy a file, it creates a cached version of the file as well until the copy is finished. So if you're trying to copy 200GB of data but the source drive only has for example 50GB of free space, it wouldnt be able to cache the files

Ok. That's what I've been forced to do. I'm having to move pieces of it at a time. It's very time consuming because if I select too much I get that error. Then I have to wait 5, 10, or somtimes 15 minutes for the data to transfer. Thanks for the help.
