Ok, I would like to know if it is possible to connect my PS3 to my Viewsonic VX924 monitor. I have read some posts about how to do it with an HDMI cable, however my monitor is not HDCP compliant.
So, I was wondering if there is a way to do it using a component AV cable, as I would like to output video at 720p. If anyone could make a suggestion as to how to do this or what adapters to use for video or audio, it would be appreciated.
Well since it's not HDCP compliant, it probably doesn't have a DVI Port. Cause, you could just buy a DVI to HDMI cable, and play the PS3 that way.
You can try the XCM VGA Box. With this device, you plug the component of the PS3 to the box, then have VGA going from your computer to the box, and another VGA going from the box to the monitor, so then all you do is flip a switch between the PC and the PS3. I've used this with my PS3 and 360, and it worked just fine. Don't really know though if it will still go HD if your monitor isn't HDCP Compliant.
I have the exact same monitor. I never tried to hook it up to my consoles, though. Anyways, you can try some HDMI to DVI cables and see. I've seen them for $15 before so it's not that expensive to test it out.
I'm hoping that since this isn't HDMI it will bypass the need for something that is HDCP compatible.
That said, I'm still looking for a way to output the audio from the PS3 to my headphones. I found a 3.5mm male to 2 RCA female adapter here, but the thing is my headphones use a 3.5mm male connector as well, so it seems like I would need a female connector on the adapter. Is it possible to plug the adapter into the audio in on my computer and get sound that way, or will that not work?
and for audio.....well im not sure, but the the video cable, has to be a hdmiTOdvi cable, it has to flow intohdmi and out inot dvi it wont work if its ment to flow the other direction.
